Identify the Server

When the program is run for the first time the user has to choose whether the program will be used as single computer program or networked computer. SQL Server details that are required depends upon this selection. Ensure the selection and the required information is correct.   Click the 'Setup Server' button. This opens the Set Server Details form.



Check the single computer box if the program is to be run on only one computer. Insert the 'Instance Name' of the SQL Server. In most cases this will simply be SQLEXPRESS.


Enter the instance name and press 'Save Settings' A confirmation message will be then be shown.  At this stage you have an option to abort or proceed. If you are unsure of the Instance name then select 'No' and abort, establish the correct instance name and restart the program, otherwise click yes and the server name is then stored in the computer registry. After the server name is saved the program will close. Restart Aviation Safety ++ and proceed with the Set Up.


Check the Network Setup box if the program is to be run on multiple computers. First determine which computer is to run the database and act as the server for all other computers. Complete the Network Setup.
